On an impulsive whim, I decided to create a blog. I’m not certain if anyone will ever read these posts, or that I will even be diligent enough to continue to write them. But this aside, I will now take a moment to introduce myself. To do so, I shall list thirty-one (who doesn’t love obscure numbers?) facts, some well known, others not so much, about me.
- I’m an only child. I feel like a lot of people assume that only children are selfish and self-centered. I, however, feel ridiculously uncomfortable in the spotlight.
- I enjoy reading “classic” literature.
- I love orange juice (hence the url of this blog). I don’t drink it much at school- it’s too watery/pulpy here- but at home it’s my beverage of choice, and I will drink it with anything. At one point in time, my parents had to limit me to one glass a day.
- You would never guess it, because I’m perhaps the most uncoordinated, unathletic, and ungraceful person you will ever meet, but I took ballet for fifteen years of my life.
- The summer before my freshman year of high school I painted my room lime green. I still don’t regret it.
- Though I love shoes and own more than I could count, I’m happiest when barefoot. There’s something liberating about not wearing shoes. Feeling the grass between your toes…
- I’m a sucker for inspirational quotes.
- I love my political theory textbook. I could honestly read for fun in my spare time. Unfortunately, spare time is sort of a foreign concept to me.
- Coffee. That is all.
-I love to laugh, and am a strong believer in being able to laugh at yourself.
- I can’t imagine my life without music. It’s my greatest stress reliever, creative outlet, and a true passion.
-I’m always singing. Always.
- I love politics. I find something incredibly empowering about being able to speak out about an idea, protest, or take charge of something you believe in. We’re so lucky that we live in a country where we can do this.
- My dog may just be the coolest person ever. That’s right, I said person.
-I’m happier wearing a skirt than pants.
-I could sit outside, enjoying the sounds and sunshine, for hours.
- My heroes/people who inspire me include: Ted Kennedy, Barack Obama, JFK, FDR, Ghandi, and…Julie Andrews. :)
-I would be nowhere without my family and friends.
- My car is named Stella.
-My favorite season is fall. I love the colors, sounds, and smells of change.
- I’m a pretty sentimental person, and sometimes have a difficult time accepting that life is always going to change. But at the same time, I find the concept that we, as people, are always growing and changing absolutely beautiful. When I find myself reluctant to accepting changes, I try to remember this quote: "Change is the law of life. And those who look only to the past or present are certain to miss the future." -John F. Kennedy
-I have a serious problem with procrastination. I procrastinate everything…this includes going to the bathroom.
-There is no better smell than that of a new book.
- Essentially, I am nocturnal.
-I’m ridiculously shy, to the point where, until you really get to know me, I’m basically a mute. It’s sort of awful.
-I bought a ring at an antique shop last spring for $5. I’ve worn it everyday ever since.
- I hate cats.
-I love the smell of campfires.
-I consider napping an art form and a hobby, one that I practice frequently.
- En Français? 30 = trente. (Is it obvious that I’m running out of ideas?)
-I sort of hate talking about myself. Writing this list was a lot harder than I had anticipated.
